Peyton and Bradley’s Estes Park elopement day was the perfect blend of breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery, heartfelt moments alone and with their families, and a touch of adventure. From a sunrise private vow exchange in Rocky Mountain National Park to an intimate ceremony with family at Knoll-Willows Open Space, their day was everything they dreamed of and more.

Why Did They Choose Estes Park for Their Elopement?

For Bradley, Colorado has always felt like home. Growing up, he spent family vacations exploring the mountains, and when it came time to choose where to elope, Estes Park was the perfect fit. It had the charm of a mountain town, stunning proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, and a sentimental connection to his past. Peyton and Bradley loved the idea of experiencing a little adventure in the morning before celebrating with their closest family and friends in the afternoon.

Rocky Mountain National Park Private Vows & Adventure Session

We kicked off the day with a 4:30 AM pick-up from their VRBO and headed over to the 3M Curve, a stunning overlook with sweeping mountain views. While, yes, early morning can be rough, but trust me, there’s nothing like watching the sunrise over the RMNP. Early morning hours are also when you’re likely to get most privacy during the park’s peak season. The couple really appreciated the privacy during their private vow and letter exchange.

After an intimate and emotional exchange, we explored more of the park, stopping at Sprague Lake for some epic water reflections before hiking to Dream Lake for an even more immersive mountain adventure experience. Peyton and Bradley wanted to see different areas of the park and soak in every bit of adventure before heading back and joining their families for the ceremony, and this sunrise session was absolutely worth it.

One of the most important elements Peyton wanted to include during this part of their elopement day, was her hand-painted jacket she wore for part of the session. It was a sentimental heirloom from her grandmother that added a deeply personal touch to her look.

Pro Tip: If you’re dreaming of a Rocky Mountain National Park elopement, make sure to secure your wedding permit early—they go fast, often a year in advance, as soon as they are released for the year ahead! Working with an experienced photographer (hey, that’s me!) helps ensure you get the best locations for your vision.

Estes Park Elopement Ceremony at Knoll-Willows Open Space

After a break in the afternoon, I met Peyton at her family’s VRBO to capture some beautiful detail shots before heading to the ceremony. Their ceremony at Knoll-Willows Open Space was intimate and heartfelt, surrounded by their closest friends and family. While their morning was full of adventure, this part of the day blended tradition with adventure and stunning views.

Peyton even had her walk down the aisle moment, proving that elopements can be whatever you want them to be. Even when you’re choosing to elope, you can include whatever traditions and activities that feel right to you!

Kind Words from the Couple

“Jason was an absolutely blessing for our recent Colorado Elopement. Upon researching for photographers, planners, and even tour guides; Jason seemed to be great at all three. His website was easy to navigate, and he did multiple virtual visits to ensure our day was perfect. He’s funny, cordial, and a great photographer. My wife and I enjoyed both his service and attendance for our elopement.”
