When Crystal and Chuck first reached out about eloping in Colorado, they had a clear vision: a quiet, scenic mountain town where they could celebrate with just their three kids. No crowds, no distractions… just them, together, in a stunning place that felt like an adventure and a breath of fresh air all at once. Buena Vista elopement at the Twin Lakes turned out to be the perfect fit.
Buena Vista is hands-down one of my favorite places for an elopement. It’s got all the beauty of Colorado’s high country—towering peaks, sparkling lakes, and golden aspens in the fall—but without the hustle and bustle of ski towns like Breckenridge or Estes Park. Everything is close together, meaning no long drives between locations, and the town itself is charming, reasonably priced, and super welcoming. Plus, it’s pet-friendly, which is always a win in my book!
Crystal and Chuck started their day getting ready at a cozy Airbnb in downtown Buena Vista, soaking in the quiet excitement of the morning. The weather was cold and windy (classic Colorado), but the energy between them and their kids kept everything warm and happy.
We kicked things off at Twin Lakes, where they exchanged vows with the lake stretching behind them, surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Sawatch Range. Their kids stood by, witnessing this incredible new chapter in their parents’ lives.
Afterward, we explored some old mining roads, finding tunnels carved into the mountainside.. Then, we made our way to an overlook above Buena Vista, where the entire Collegiate Peaks range spread out before us. The wind whipped through the valley, but Crystal and Chuck leaned into each other, laughing, holding hands, soaking in the beauty of the moment.
This is the kind of elopement that lights me up. It was relaxed, intimate, and completely true to who Crystal and Chuck are. They didn’t have to worry about logistics—I helped them plan it all—so they could just be present, enjoy their family, and celebrate in a way that felt right for them.
That’s what I love most about elopements here: the freedom. Whether you want to hike to a remote overlook, exchange vows by the water, or just wander through the aspens with your person (or your pup!), Buena Vista and Twin Lakes make it easy to create something magical.
If this kind of elopement speaks to your soul—the quiet beauty, the flexibility, the chance to do things your way—let’s make it happen. I know all the best spots, can help with planning, and will make sure your day is everything you want it to be (and more). Ready to start dreaming? Let’s talk!
